Siberian Husky Puppies
Siberian Husky puppies, with their pudgy little masked faces, intense blue eyes, and seemingly perfectly placed markings can be extremely irresistible to the would-be puppy buyer. They have a rich history marked with heroism and they make lively, entertaining, and affectionate family pets. First bred in Siberia by the semi-nomadic Chukchi people, Siberian Husky dogs show their northern heritage in their thick fur, erect ears, and brush tail. When the Chukchi people needed to expand their hunting ground, they began developing a well built, but still light weight sled dog capable of traveling long distances at a moderate speed and the Siberian Husky dog was born!
Right around the beginning of the 1900’s, Siberian Husky puppies were imported to the and particularly to Alaska to serve as exceptional sled dogs. Several Siberian Husky breeders, most notably Leonhard Seppala began producing champion dogs that even won the great 400-mile race in Alaska! The dog’s heroic nature and willingness to serve is evident in the admirable feats that have been accomplished with the aid of the Siberian Husky. In 1925, when the city of Nome, Alaska was afflicted with diphtheria on an epidemic level, Siberian Husky dog sled teams made many trips to the suffering people, carrying a much needed anti-toxin and saving many lives! Siberian Husky dogs have also served on important expeditions, such as the Byrd Antarctic Expeditions and provided an integral role in the Army’s Arctic Search and Rescue Unit during World War II.
The Siberian Husky dog is generally a friendly and gentle companion. He is rarely suspicious of strangers or aggressive toward other dogs and can make an exceptional family dog. Though not suited well to apartment living, Siberian Huskies that are trained well as puppies can adapt to apartment living if they are given much exercise. However, due to high energy needs, this dog is better suited to a living situation that provides substantial outside space. The Siberian Husky dog is active and lively, a willing worker, and can make an excellent jogging partner! Siberian Husky puppies come in all colors, including piebald and pinto, with each dog displaying a unique and often striking pattern and a pure white Siberian Husky puppy is a sight to behold, indeed! White Siberian Husky puppies may be confused with the somewhat similar looking Samoyed, but as they grow distinct differences will be easily noticed. Overall, a Siberian Husky puppy will make for a well balanced companion dog or a very willing and cooperative working animal and his easy going temperament makes him adaptable to many different situations.
